Send a letter from therapist of your mental health diagnosis and how long you have been seeing the therapist, (could be via USPS mail)  to your local Social Security office Call 800-772-1213 for your local SSA (Social Security Administration) number, Hawaii's one is (300 Ala Moana Blvd Rm 1-114).

 

If you don't send the letter from your therapist about your mental health diagnosis to SSA, SSDI or SSI will send a taxi and appointment to see a doctor to see what your a mental health diagnosis is, cause people might be scared of the social security hiring a doctor.  Go-to SSA.gov/onlineservices to see if they did hire a taxi and doctor, usually you would get a letter saying you got an appointment so then send the letter to SSA that you got a mental health diagnosis, they probably don't know that you are already seeing a Doctor. but if you did not get a letter check SSA.gov/onlineservices how your SSDI or SSI application is doing. 

 

8. At SSA.gov/Onlineservices track your SSDI or SSI application (where there might be a appointment and taxi appointment, to send the letter from your therapist to local SSA aka Social Security Administration office)

 

9. Receive the mail from SSDI (SSA) who you want as your representative payee (a non profit organization that acts as your representative payee and has service of representative payee), send back just write in Helping Hands and SSA will contact Helping Hands.

 

10. Takes 6 months to get SSDI about 1 month to process the application to get SSI. 

 

11. ​if you get SSDI first then SSI you get medicare, if you only get SSI first then you don't get medicare which has dual (medicaid and medicare, of which you applied for medicaid first and then received medicare later with your SSDI 120 days later after you first received SSDI then medicare begins.

• So after you complete the online application, and you check how your application is doing and they say they want you to see a doctor via a taxi, then you don't need to see this doctor if you confirm that you are already seeing one and have a mental health diagnosis as to why you are applying due to a disability mines is social anxiety and lack of job.

• Also you might get back payment considering how long you haven't been working x the $1,900/month that you haven't been working.

• Another paper they send via mail is ask who will be your Representative payee (till you prove to SSDI or if you assign helping hands that you are okay to take care of your own money till then you have to ask (if you assign helping hands hhh@helpinghands.org to be your representative payee) your representative payee for money and the reason, like to pay for gas, food, hygiene, insurance, rent etc.
